Lebron James calls himself the G.O.A.T…prematurely..

Lebron James calls himself the Greatest of all time prematurely, though I agree with that statement, the nay sayers don’t.

I started this website to debate that very subject of Lebron James being the G.O.A.T. and not Michael Jordan anymore. I feel I have crushed that argument. (Please refer to my past posts) That being said I feel he spoke up about that a little to soon. Lebron needs to win a few more Championships to silence majority of the naysayers. Not to secure his rightful title as the Greatest of all time but to make the haters be quiet. In order to do that he must join a contender and leave this sorry Laker team.

I’m just going to address the main arguments people bring up about Jordan whom many considered or considers the G.O.A.T. compared to the new G.O.A.T. in Lebron James.

Jordan is 6 for 6 in the finals while Lebron is 3 and 5 in the NBA finals. Here’s the thing, Michael Jordan had Phil Jackson, arguably one of the greatest coaches ever. Who did Lebron James have as coach? A rookie coach in Erik Spoelstra, David Blatt, Tyronn Lue, Brendan Malone. The best Coach Lebron has had excluding this season is Mike Brown…however, Lebron didn’t have a supporting cast to compete for a Championship at the time, his next best teammate was Mo Williams on that roster.

Michael Jordan has 6 Championships and 6 NBA finals MVP awards. Again Championships are team awards and is not a individual accomplishment. Many hall of famers don’t have a championship ring, Allen Iverson, Elgin Baylor, Dominique Wilkins, George Gervin, Tracy Mcgrady to name a few don’t have rings. On the other hand Robert Horry who was just a role player has 7 Championship rings. As far as finals MVP, the award usually goes to the player on the winning team. Let’s take the 2017 NBA finals for example, Kevin Durant was MVP. Kevin Durant averaged 35.2 points per game, 8.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.6 blocks while Lebron averaged 33.6 points per game, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, 1.4 steals and 1 block. Durant barely outscored Lebron by a mere 1.6 points per game, Lebron out rebound Durant by 3.8, Lebron had 4.6 more assist per game but Durant had .6 more blocks per game. As you can Lebron out performed Durant in most stats and the stats Durant beat Lebron was by a very small margin. On top of that Lebron averaged a triple double, yet Durant got the Finals MVP.

So in order to have gotten the Finals MVP’s Lebrons TEAM would have had to won the Finals but they didn’t hence Lebron only has three Finals MVP awards to date.

Another argument experts and the like say is that Jordan had the killer instinct to win. That can’t be desputed, Jordan wanted to win at everything. However, he also had the zen master in his corner. A legendary coach who could pull him aside when his team was down and when he was having a off shooting night, to help pull him out of that slump or draw up plays to get him better shots. Lebron never had a legendary coach who could draw up plays to get high percentage shots let alone help put his head back in the game. If Lebron James was coached by Phil Jackson, his teams would have operated 100% better and when Lebron’s team is winning, Lebron is motivated to win.

Last argument I will bring up is the clutch factor. Michael is undoubtedly the best game closer ever. If I had to choose between Jordan or Lebron to take the last shot, I would have to choose Jordan obviously. However, Lebron is a much better play maker and can create shots for other players to get the high percentage look. Just as Jordan kicked it out to Paxson for the three or Kerr for the free throw line jumper to close out games, Lebron could do exactly that and still help his team win the game.

In conclusion, as I stated in previous posts, Lebron James is the Greatest of All Time but he should not have called himself that. At least not yet, help teams win 4 more Championships, retire and then say that.

I think the reason he called himself the G.O.A.T. now is because he plans to stay with the Lakers. Which if that is the case then, I feel sorry for him and legacy. Such a decision will haunt him the rest of his life.
